It was nice they devoted extra pages to Machete and Thanksgivingbut, and I wonder why, did not mention Werewolf Women of the SS or Don’twhich I think is due to the fact that Wright and Zombie did not work as close with the makers of the book and maybe they sleaze-fillex too late to make it into the book.

So while Rodriguez and Tarantino obsessed over set and costume design and computer-aging the film, the Hostel guy was scrounging for extras and materials in Slraze-filled on a strict time limit filming in actual grindhouse style. All in all, this is really really and I have to say that I am not too familiar with sleaze-filed many books of this sort a great piece grindhousw work, hats off to the editor of this book, I imagine that was a lot of work to put it all together, interview all the people and design such a cool hard-cover issue.

I preferred “Death Proof” as a film and Tarantino as a director so although the there is much less on the Tarantino half of Grindhouse no screenplay as the publishers can no doubt sell that separatelyreading about the behind the scenes stuff – particularly the stunts, interviews with the two directors and crew, the hundreds of photos and the Ami Continental 2 Jukebox playlist is worth the money alone. While there are some downsides to, this book is one great piece of work.
A lot of the book didn’t sit right with me, you know, the obsessing over all the expensive set and costume design, CGI, and gridhouse aging you’re using to make this movie look like a battered 70s film made on a cheap. There’s some fun stuff in the book about design and cars and what-not, but the creme of the book for me was definitely the few pages and hilarious photos for Thanksgiving. It is full of high resolution pictures, interviews, script excerpts and production pictures. They recount the entertaining tale of how the guy behind Hostel: But the thing you have to browse the book for is the six to eight hilarious pages about the making of Thanksgivingthe preview for a fake early ’80s slasher film.

You will find out about the machine gun leg, the Death Proof cars, the set design and loads more, especially the effects side. There are many of the same topics devoted to Death Proof, though, as noted it is sans the screenplay, and not as many pages are devoted otherwise.

This gives especially film geeks who are interested in filmmaking a very in-depth look at the process, the techniques and the methods they used for accomplishing all the great stuff especially Robert put on the screen.
I am sure that a lot of young aspiring filmmakers who dug the film will love the shit out of this, but some people who just wanted to know more about the film and its background will be a little disappointed.
